How to fix NXGN uprights to practical hoarding upright studs

Upright-to-Frame Fixing

In Practical Hoardings, NXGN uprights are fixed to the Upright Studs (UR ST) that are installed within the on-site-built frame. The upright's stud receiver slides over the 70×45mm timber stud, and is secured with chipboard screws.

DetailSpecification
Fixing MethodThrough Stud Receiver into Upright Stud (UR ST)
Screw Type35mm Chipboard Screws
Fixing PointsTop, Middle, Bottom
Quantity1× screw per fixing point

Alignment

  • Upright stud (UR ST) must be plumb and level before fixing the upright
  • Check with a spirit level on both axes
  • Fixings central to the stud once alignment is confirmed

Weight Block Placement

After the upright is secured, weight blocks are placed on the upright foot. The number required depends on the panel height — refer to Load Ratings & Weight Blocks.

Difference from Panel Hoarding Upright Fixing

The key difference is the timber size and screw specification. Panel Hoardings use 70×35mm studs with 40mm 8G or 65mm 10G screws, while Practical Hoardings use the larger 70×45mm studs with 35mm screws — the larger timber provides a more secure fixing point for the on-site construction method.
